A&P Shows play an important role in the development and preservation of social and community benefits throughout the country – having a positive overall benefit to New Zealand’s major centres, regional and rural communities. The majority of these social impacts are initiated through the Show Day itself, but also through the many partnerships formed with community organisations.
The contribution to community social benefit enhances both individual and community well-being throughout the regions – from equestrian sports to livestock showing and the many other community organisations who benefit and raise funds through their local Show. In some of the smaller communities, the local Show is one of the few, if not the only event bringing that community together.
All schools, teachers, home schoolers are now able to register for the incredibly popular Show education programme.
The A&P Show is an excellent opportunity to allow students of all ages and abilities to have a direct link to farms and food production systems, increasing their understanding of where food comes from, how it is produced and the journey from pasture to plate.
The programme is highly interactive and aims to establish an inspirational platform for students. It will engage and promote a choice of careers.
The programme includes a wide range of activities that can include pre and post show classroom projects and competitions for all students to show creativity and leadership.
